June Member Spotlight

Meghan Irmler

What 3 pieces of advice would you give women in this industry?

Be nice to people - give them the benefit of the doubt until you know otherwise. It is not a sign of weakness to be a kind person.

Always do your best job -  some tasks are tedious and you won’t like doing them, but how you do them says a lot about you.

Do your homework - it really helps to know your stuff. You’ll want to speak with confidence, and the best way to do that is to know what you’re talking about.

What is your greatest professional accomplishment?

I feel proud and humbled to be a professional in this field; to have worked for 16 years at a top-tier law firm; to have had the opportunity there to become a subject matter expert; to have moved in-house in my adopted city at an amazing company with the same culture of collaboration and service that I so appreciated at my law school and firm; and to continue to practice in my area of expertise. I’m a planner by nature, but the unexpected is bound to happen and, professionally, I have tried to find the potential for opportunity when it does. I believe my career has been the better for it.

What has been your greatest professional challenge?

I’m an introvert, and I dislike conflict. The challenge for me has been to put myself out there and stand up for myself when necessary.
